This short film is my interpretation of Saadat Hasan Manto's "Artist Loug," a story that masterfully exposes societal hypocrisy. My goal was to translate Manto's sharp, empathetic prose into a visual language that captures the duality of the lives of artists'. Focusing on the tension between art and authenticity, the film questions the labels we impose on people and celebrates the unyielding human need for artistic expression, no matter the cost.

My vision for Maanu's "Melancholic" was to create a character who is haunted not by a person, but by a feeling. This video uses surreal and stylized sequences to represent the inescapable nature of a melancholic state—where memories flicker like a damaged film reel and the present feels like an echo. It’s a personal exploration of how emotion can color our entire perception of the world, turning familiar places into landscapes of memory and yearning.

This documentary short pulls back the curtain on the gig economy in Pakistan, focusing on the unsung heroes who keep the cities moving: the Bykea riders. The film goes beyond the app interface to explore the harsh realities of waiting, hustling, and navigating city streets for minimal fare. Centered on a university student who balances his studies with this demanding work, the film becomes a poignant portrait of resilience, exploring the immense sacrifice required to straddle two worlds and fuel one's dreams.

In this cross-continental documentary, I collaborated with a filmmaker from Utah, USA, serving as the Unit Producer in Pakistan. Following a devastating church arson in Gujranwala, I managed all local production to capture the immediate impact on the Christian minority community. This narrative is contrasted with the experiences of minorities in the American West, weaving together a powerful exploration of the universal mechanisms of discrimination and resilience. The completed film has been officially selected and screened at several international film festivals, posing the poignant question: How different are the faces of intolerance across the world?
